hi ryan... my name is aron and we live in cape town, SA. read about your experience with tickbite fever. wondering if you have had any experience with tick bite fever in infants while you have been here? our son zac, 16months old, is in hospital being treated for quite severe rickettsia (ATBF) with doxycycline 5mg daily, after being ill and mis- diagnosed for a week (tick bite fever is not common in these parts, so not something doctor's look for) would be interested to hear any thoughts you have. aronturest@gmail.com many thanks :)
OK......waiting for more awesome info..... and am curious about the comment from Aaron and his reference (and yours?) to 'tick bite fever'. Is he referring to the rickettsial illness transmitted by deer ticks that results in Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever? Does that occur in SA? Dr. Nene
